Ah, it's always great news to be told you need a new roof. A million things go through your mind, with the first being. OMG, how much is this going to cost and who is going to try and take advantage of me...we did the obligatory 3 quotes, all of which were "ok". None too high, none too low... but we weren't wowed by any of the companies either. All of our quotes were for shingle roofs, and we'd always said we'd like a metal roof but were concerned with cost, installation, etc. Then we met PDF Roofing. They spent time with us educating us on the pros/cons of each type of roof. They discussed our options knowing our budget, made recommendations and ultimately provided us with a quote. Their quote was well organized, easy to read, and fair. We had some questions which they answered quickly. We ultimately went with PDF Roofing for our new roof. Yes, it's a little more expensive than shingle, but well worth it. Contrary to popular belief, metal roofs are not noisy when it rains. In fact, according to one study, metal roofs' noise levels are about the same as other products like asphalt shingles, wood shingles, or clay tiles.
Grounding of any exterior metal siding or roofing is not recognized as necessary by any major building code organization.
Yes, but since a metal roof requires virtually no maintenance, there should be no reason to do so. Like any roof, care should be exercised.
